What is it that draws fans back to this film? Beyond the well-written comedy, there's a distinct atmosphere and pathos: the plaintive score, Monty's eloquent, poetic nostalgia, the bitter separation of friends... all perfectly mixed with hedonistic misbehaviour.
Capturing this damp, desolate, poetic side ...the bleak hills, endless rain, muddy colour palette, while still appreciating the (soaking wet) comedy of the characters and scenes, this artwork takes a line from the film's final Hamlet speech to illustrate Withnail's point that man is not exactly 'paragon' of animals -he's basically out there trying to survive just like them.
