Plot

Hiller, a computer expert, was bribed by a group of bank robbers to obtain details of the security system at a newly built bank.

Having obtained the information, he thought he’d seen the last of the robbers. But now they’ve traced him and his son to London.

They hold the son hostage and force Hiller to decode the information about the alarm and then to take part in the robbery.

Plot

Captain Hugh “Bullshot” Crummond (Alan Shearman) is a World War I fighter pilot, Olympic athlete, racing driver, and part-time sleuth.

He must save the world from the dastardly Count Otto van Bruno (Ronald E House),  his wartime adversary, and win the heart of the damsel in distress (Diz White).

Plot

Ray Macklin (Daniels) is obsessed with his own mortality.

When a close friend suddenly dies of a heart attack at a barbecue, Ray becomes convinced that every ache, pain and twinge he experiences is a sign of his own impending death.

His unjustified fears lead him into ever more extensive hypochondria.  

Plot

The film depicts the lives and misadventures of two “resting” (struggling and unemployed) young actor friends in late-1969 London.

They are the flamboyant alcoholic Withnail and “I” (named “Marwood” in the published screenplay but not in the credits) as his more level-headed, anxiety-prone, and ennui-crippled friend and the film’s narrator.

Withnail is filled with indignation over life’s injustices, despite his privileged background.

He rages against the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune all the more because he blames others for the adverse consequences of his exuberant arrogance, flagrant narcissism and habitual lying, alcoholism, and drug use.

Withnail sets the tone for the friendship, with Marwood going along with whatever Withnail wants to do. They live in a filthy Georgian flat in Camden Town.

While they wait for a part, daily life revolves around getting coins to use in the meters that provide gas or electricity, going to collect benefits, and waiting for the pubs to open so they can drink and be somewhere with heating.

Their only other company at the flat besides each other is the local drug dealer, Danny; a somewhat distasteful man with far out, often bizarre viewpoints on the current state of affairs and a knack for irritating Withnail.

Plot

The film is set in The Bronx in 1964.

We are introduced to Heinz (John Turturro), the neighborhood bully who has just been released from prison, who wastes no time in letting everyone know he hasn’t changed by stirring up trouble again.

Heinz has just been released from prison after serving a term for attempted rape, and has returned to his old neighborhood to resume his relationship with his demented mother and to “rekindle” his own demented version of a relationship with Linda (Jodie Foster), the near-rape victim.

Harry (Tim Robbins) had protected Linda in the near-rape, but since then he has adopted a policy of non-violent response to violence (caused by the murder of his policeman father and the non-violent protests against racism espoused by Dr. Martin Luther King).

Harry has now become a Buddhist and a pacifist, and seeks to join Dr. King’s movement, making protecting Linda again a difficult task.
